You beat me to it . That one one the bootleg lp , (7-2) is raw and beautiful . I like the Veneta one ( and the ones like it ), but still love the power of that Filmore West one . I wonder why they dropped it ? Maybe "Stella" took its place ?
Had they kept it in their rep. I suspect they would have dropped it, why Jerry's voice crapped out in 78, and surely when Donna was gone .
I have put that 7-2 version ( also that "Muddy Water") on my weird mix cds I make for non head friends . Anyone who loves soulful "roots"music ( and is not blindly anti-Dead) should "get " that one .
My other favorite is Merl Haggard's original !
